Congrats to our 2026 JJWAA Scholarship Recipients

Thanks to your memberships and donations, seven (7) Scholarship/Stipend Awards were given out to outstanding high school and college students.

Scholarship awardees are $3000.00 and Stipend awards are $2000.00.

Mariah Rollins, a 2026 Massaponax High School graduate, is one of those distinguished students being awarded a scholarship this year. She has an astonishing 4.375 GPA, was inducted into the National Technical Honors Society and the Thespian Honor Society. Mariah's Intended Field of Studies is Dental Hygiene at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia.

Mariah's grandmother is Sarah Rollins who was a JJW Student and Class of 1952 graduate. Sarah graduated the very same year that John J. Wright Consolidated School opened its doors !! Mariah's proud parents are JJWAA member Bernard Rollins and Lisa Rollins. 

Brandon Bazemore-Fountain, 2026 Courtland High School graduate, was the very first to apply after the December 2026 JJWAA scholarship application period announcement. He has a 3.677 GPA, is a Kappa League High School Student of the Year, is an awarded sportsman and avid community service enthusiast. Brandon's   Intended Field of Study is Marine Sciences at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Brandon is the grandson of Betty Bazemore, who was a JJW student and was a longtime JJWAA member and Executive Board member. Brandon's mother is longtime JJWAA member Rochelle Bazemore-Fountain, and his father is Marlon Fountain. 

Janaya D. Raynor graduated from Courtland High School. Janaya achieved a 4.174 GPA. She graduated with an Advance Studies diploma, is a National English Honor Society member and her Intended Field of Study is Psychology at Virginia State University. 

Her parents are Shalanda and Jarvis Raynor.

Jordyn D. Raynor graduated from Courtland High School and achieved a 4.133 GPA. She graduated with an Advance Studies diploma, is a member of the RHO Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society and her Intended Field of Study is Nursing, also at Virginia State University with her twin sister, Janaya. Her parents are Shalanda and Jarvis Rayner

Christopher I. Washington is a graduate of Spotswood High School in Penn Laird, Virginia. He has a 4.16 GPA and is an Advance Placement student, a National Honor Society and a Latin Honor Society member. Christopher is the school’s record holder for multiple sports and provides multiple community services. He is the son of Chris and Sury Washington.

Christopher’s  grandmother is Jacquelyn Woodward Washington, a JJW Consolidated School Class of 1968 graduate and longtime dedicated JJWAA member, and his grandfather is Charles Washington. 

Camila Washington completed the 2025-2026 school year at Virginia Polytechnic Institute University in Blacksburg, VA  with a 3.51 Cumulative GPA and her major is Business Information Technology.

Camila continues to provide community services through Chi Delta Alpha sorority events and activities. Camila’s parents are Christopher and Sury Washington.

Saniya Lewis completed her 2025-2026 Freshman year at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia with a 3.36 Current GPA. Her major is Public Health/Health Administration.

Saniya continues her community services activities via the Remote Area Medical Club or RAM. Saniya’s grandfather was Roy Lewis, Sr., a student at John J. Wright Consolidated School. Her parents are Roy Lewis, Jr and Stacey Lewis.
